Davis Motorsports Class 7s Ranger Kevin Davis (DMS Racing) of Glendora,
CA races BITD 7s class in his first-rate
Ford Ranger built by Lothringer Engineering. This truck is an early model
single cab 2wd Ford Ranger with an updated 2000 fiberglass front end.
Kent Lothringer has once again done an exceptional fabrication job as
reflected in the craftmanship shown below. With the traditional twin I-Beam
suspension up front, the stock beams have been reinforced and gusseted
to handle the abuse of the desert. As per class rules, the stock radius
arms are also being used, but have been modified to pivot on heim joints
instead of the factory-equipped bushing. The suspension is controlled
by a set of Eibach coils supplied by Camburg Engineering, hydraulic bumpstops
mounted through the coils, and King race series bypass shocks fastened
securely to the well designed engine cage. The front suspension has been
limited to 12" wheel travel to comply with class rules. The rear
is pulling 18" travel with King race series bypass shocks mounted
atop a set of Deaver Springs and a gusseted Ford 9" axle. The leaf
spring mounting points have been reinforced and double sheared for added
strength. Powering the Ranger is a Doug Maxwell (Maxwell's Garage) fuel
injected 3 liter, coupled with a Steve Culhane C4 transmission. The truck
rides on 35" Goodyear GSA all terrain tires with kevlar sidewalls.
The DMS Racing Team is formed by the Davis family and friends, devoted
to wrenching on the truck and supporting any effort. More information
on DMS Racing and their truck can be found on their official webpage:
