Cam Theirot's Class 1 by Robby Gordon Offroad Last November I caught up with Bob Gordon and the rest of the crew from Robby Gordon Offroad while they were testing the brand new class 1 car built for Cam Theriot. The car piqued many people's interests given the notoriety of Robby Gordon as well as its bright fluorescent orange body. This was the maiden voyage of the car (it was about a week away from the Baja 1000 and the front bumper and body had not been completed yet), and they were out for a shakedown run to get the Gordon-built internal bypass shocks dialed. While this car features some of the latest technology offered in desert racing, BTI Performance Hubs, as well as a high horsepower LS1 Chevy Corvette engine; the car is really quite simple. From a glance, it appears to be your standard class 1 car with an eye catching paint scheme, but what sets it apart from the rest is the detail and craftsmanship put into the design. Almost every TIG weld on this car is double or triple stitched, multiplying the amount of time put into the build. Double sleeved upper a-arms and a trick, boxed bulkhead contribute to the awe that envelopes a viewer during their first up-close look at the car. With its careful and well-executed design, this car will definitely be seing the top ranks when the dust settles..
