Todd Barhill's Alumicraft Prerunner
by Ryan Plowman

As President of BTI Tools and Performance, it's only natural to have a desert capable vehicle to showcase your top of line machining capabilities. BTI Tool and Performance produces products for companies such as FOX Racing Shox, Alumicraft, Penhall, Jimco, and many many more. As seen below, Todd has introduced a new filter and housing line-up for 2006. The Cyclone Ultra Filter is the best filter money can buy for an off-road application. The Cyclone Ultra Filter design uses centrifugal force to keep dust and dirt out of the filter element which increases filter life. Unlike other housings on the market, the filter element can be removed from BOTH sides, also held in by billet aluminum mounting claps, and the end caps are machined from a single piece of billet 6061 T-6 billet aluminum; no spun aluminum here! See for yourself here!

Todd was set on having a four seat vehicle that he could load up his wife and kids for a fun-filled day; and at the same time be able to conquer the rough terrain of the local deserts at speed with friends. Nothing says that more than a prerunner built by Alumicraft in Santee, Ca. Todd went down to talk to John Cooley, owner of ALumicraft, about his plans for the new car. Everything that Todd wanted, John could do as a "dual-sport" car is Alumicraft's specialty.

This new car, featured below, has all the amentities you could ask for. A 4-seat tabbed chassis was ordered and delivered along with the aluminum panels to have painted to suit Todd's needs. To scoot this 4-seater across the open desert, Todd ordered a new, 550hp LS2 engine from Redline Performance that runs off pump gas! To transfer all that hp, a 4-speed senquential gearbox from Mendeola was set-into place to drive the BTI Performance hubs with 934cv's. To handle the rough and rocky terrain, 35'' BFG Baja T/A wrapped around 15'' BTR wheels were set into place and up front help accompany the BTW Performance 2'' hallow snout hubs. The car will stop on a dime by 4 and 6 piston CNC billet calipers.

The make the ride oh so smooth, FOX Racing Shox were bolted into place with there new free-bleed bypass tube to allow an ultra smooth ride and very low speeds. To help keep your body into place, Mastercraft 3G seats with heaters along with Mastercraft harnesses. A full intercom/race radio system was provided by PCI and a 7'' GPS to help keep the vehicle on course.

Don't let the fancy paintjob fool you, as the car is fairly new and already has lots of miles under it's belt. Alumicraft builds some of the most top-notch dual sport prerunners on the market, and their waiting list speaks for itself. Want one for yourself? Give Alumicraft a call; they come as chassis', roller's(as Todd prefered), and 100% turn-key ready animals!
