Best in the Desert Bilek Racing Silver State 300... A Matter of Seconds

Las Vegas, Nevada – (April 29, 2010) – On a beautiful day in Alamo, Nevada, north of Las Vegas, nearly 200 cars, trucks, Quads, UTVs and motorcycles started the Bilek Racing Silver State 300. By the time the race finished almost six hours later, just 94 seconds separated TJ Flores, who started 7th, and Jason Voss, who started 9th, at the finish of a tough 300 mile course. The top 5 overall were separated by just 7 minutes. The Voss entry is the same vehicle that burned to the ground at this same race last year - completely rebuilt.

Elevation on the course varied from 3,500 to 6,500 ft, with reports of snow at the higher elevations. Once the racers made their way down to the lower elevations and smoother terrain, speeds above 100 MPH were not uncommon. Racers from the continental U.S., Hawaii, Australia, Canada and England brought an international flair to the competition.

It was a great day of racing, with a litany of racers gathering around the new Best in the Desert Mobile Media Center to check on their race team’s position. Now a mainstay at all Best in the Desert races at the finish line, the large monitor in the back of the Ford F350 Media Truck was connected to a laptop logged on to Tracking International’s high-tech tracking system. With just a click of the mouse, a marker on the course map pops up with positions of every racer and their time.

Fans at home could do the same thing by logging onto the course map - and see the start and finish of the race...LIVE, thanks to the broadcast sponsored by General Tire and Team Ford in Las Vegas. Thousands of people were on-line to track their favorite, and watch the race as it unfolded at the finish line.

Best In The Desert official sponsors: Ford Motor Company – official truck, General Tire – official tire, VP Racing Fuels – official fuel, KC HiLiTES – official light, Banks Power – official power system, Arctic Cat – official UTV, KTM – official motorcycle, FabTech – official suspension, Fall Advertising, Prerunner Maniac, McKenzies, Werdco BC Inc., PCI Race Radios, and Sportsman Cycle Sales.

Notorious BIG said it best, either you're slanging crack rock or you got a wicked jump shot. Nobody wants to work for it anymore.
